Top 10 List: Best Tufted Beds

September 15, 2017

My latest inspiration is our master bedroom re-design – a space we are creating with a coastal, transitional vibe that will aim to act as a somewhat peaceful retreat from the beautiful chaos of life. We moved into our house almost five years ago and just decided to upgrade to a king bed, a simple luxury of life that we want to indulge in (and more room for morning snuggles with the little ones!).

After exploring the vast landscape of bed options, we decided to go with a neutral tufted headboard, complete with full bed. We considered an iron canopy bed as an alternative (which I so love), but figured our room wasn’t quite big enough. I spent a good amount of time researching bed options and narrowed down to the top 10 tufted beds that made it onto the contender list. I included a little bit of a range, considering the splurge options for maximum design inspiration and the more affordable ones, as well.

Here is the list, in no particular order.

1. Restoration Hardware Chesterfield

My husband and I went to see this one in person in the local showroom and fell madly in love with it. Absolutely gorgeous bed, with a premium feel and was shown with linen sand fabric.

2. Crate and Barrel Gia

I also dragged my smiling husband along to take a look at another beautiful bed in person as we were away for the weekend, strolling along the Magnificent Mile. Crate and Barrel has a beautiful, simple design with soft, low, modern lines, which I also really like. This one has partial tufting, going two rows down.

3. Pottery Barn Chesterfield

I then checked out the line-up of many beautiful fabric headboard options at Pottery Barn. My favorite in their collection is the Chesterfield upholstered bed with bronze nailheads. Envisioned with beautiful, crisp white bedding, this could maybe be the relaxed look we are going for.

4. Ballard Designs Phoebe

I also really like Ballard Designs, so checked out their site and found the Phoebe bed, but think it might be phasing out of their available selection. Perhaps they will have a substitute soon!

5. Ballard Designs Miles Red

Continuing the search within Ballard, I came across the new Miles Red bed, which could be fun and unique in the design, making a statement in the room. But might be a little too high, since I am placing the bed in front of the window. Such a gorgeous bed to pass up.

6. Serena and Lily Broderick

Serena and Lily stands out in my mind for their bedding, so I figured, well, they might have some stylin’ beds too. Boy was I right. They have a beautiful collection of fabric beds and with the coastal design that is right up my alley. My favorite one from them is the Broderick, which has a square angle and beautiful neutral color that would look good in any room. The choices, oh the choices. Which one to go with!

7. Bassett HGTV Home Paris

Also came across one from Bassett, which has tufting, a rounded top and wingback – a beautiful combination that adds a level of softness.

8. Wayfair Darrie

Being mindful of the budget, I wanted to see were there any options out there with a similar look for a fraction of the cost. And came across a couple to add into the consideration mix. Wayfair has a really pretty Darrie upholstered panel bed, which is neutral, has tufting and a wingback (again, loving this combo of details).

9. Joss and Main

And Joss and Main has a beautiful one, which is very close to the Ballard Design options – also a great contender. Gorgeous, lines to add interest to round out the boxy lines in my room.

10. West Elm Grid Tufted Leather

To also add into the line-up is the West Elm leather tufted bed, which we have in queen and are moving to our guest room. Although we love it oh so much, it just didn’t make sense to get the same exact bed in king.

So, which one did we go with? After much back and forth and careful weighing of pros, cons and dimensions, we decided on… drumroll…. The Pottery Barn Chesterfield bed. We are SO excited about our decision (of course, me more than him) and can’t wait til it arrives within 2-4 glorious weeks. I just love the light oatmeal color, which will look really nice against our coastal inspired walls and will be timeless to enjoy over the years. We will be dressing it up with beautiful white bedding for a simple, calm feel and might include a pop of color in the pillows. I will share the full room pics when it all comes together!
