Design Tripspiration: Savannah Southern Charm

January 18, 2018

My husband and I just returned from a weekend getaway that was an absolute breath of fresh air. Responsibility free and carefree, we explored about with a sense of curiosity and newness that Savannah brought for us. He planned an incredible long weekend away as a 40th birthday gift to me and even coordinated with my mom, who took care of our boys for the weekend! How lucky I am. We were curious about Savannah for so long and loved every second of being there, savoring it all from heading to the spa to hitting up a horse-drawn carriage ride to checking out live music and chillin’ in coffee shops, cozy together with cappuccino and conversation. A combination therapeutic for the senses, giving us the time to step back and appreciate all the greatness of life.

We stayed in the very stylish Brice hotel, which made our stay even that much better. What a place filled to the brim with charm and coziness, every glance around each corner. A cool boutique hotel that offers a communal happy hour bringing together all guests of the hotel, provides bikes for the taking to head out about town and even coordinates an organized art tour, encouraging guests to hit up the many nearby galleries. I was inspired by so many interior design elements in the hotel, bringing together the modern decor with touches of eclectic and French country – all fitting so nicely together. We were welcomed in the charming little lobby, wrapped with low white bookcases of black and white books, adjacent to the lobby seating area, filled with tufted couches and a beautiful wood table.

The elevator brought us up to the second floor, where butterflies sprinkled the hallway wallpaper, guiding us down to our room. Our door opened and what a sweet suite in front of us, with full sectional, dog pillows and fun vibrant art. When we head to a new place, we are usually like giddy little kids, excitement beaming out of us to explore it all. With eyes wide open, we headed in to see the awesomeness of our hotel room! We first check out the bedroom and yippee it’s a king size modern canopy bed, with a gold finish and beautiful white bedding. I have an absolute love of canopy beds and find it to be such a treat when we get one, even if just for a few days.

We peeked around the corner and saw the amazing bathroom. It actually had a soaking tub INSIDE of the oversized shower. Oh, the luxury of it all. The color combination was so inspirational, with gray tile work surrounding the bathroom, white tub and a big cheerful yellow round mirror over the tub. Finished up with a modern white vanity and black industrial lighting fixtures. Bathroom heaven.

Our tripspiration continued as we experienced the Southern charm and coziness that Savannah has to offer, taking full advantage of new experiences out and about. My husband knows how much I love to frolic, it’s one of my favorite thing to do, immersing into the art of doing nothing, walking about taking the day as it comes. Knowing me well, he dubbed Savannah as the town of “epic frolicking.” Yes, that's right - "epic frolicking." As we were experiencing “epic frolicking,” we came across a fabulous home décor store, 24e, known locally as the "Coolest store in Savannah. Period.” 24e is a unique home décor and interior design shop, filled with a range in items including one-of-a-kind pieces, like airplane part tables to southern pieces of absolute perfection, like the most glorious porch swing hanging in their display window. Offering a combination of modern, contemporary and industrial pieces, the store team was so friendly and welcoming, showing my husband and me the many interesting pieces on both floors. Sitting in the incredibly comfy sectional, with American flag draped behind us, we glanced out at the aspirational pieces, which I wished I had more wall space for, like the round mirror set included here. A few of my favorite pieces I came across at 24e are:

Also inspired from our trip was the great amount of color inspiration, often bringing the outdoors in, like the serene white color of our horse for the day, Emmy:

…and the soft green of nature from our time in Forsyth Park, centered with the iconic white fountain. Loved the character brought to life throughout the park, experiencing local musicians and artists:

...and the sweet Parisian-inspired coffee shop, Cafe M, which we could've stayed in all day long:

Savannah: an inspirational, historic place filled with art, music, charm and serious southern cooking. We connected with it in a great way and are excited to re-visit again someday, continuing the discovery, relaxation and roomcrush tripspiration.
